About Us
In early 1994 some former members of Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSS) came
together to form a group, which later metamorphosed into Al-Usrah. The main intention
for forming the group was to sensitise and create Islamic awareness amongst Muslims
residing in Port Harcourt and environs. In the early stages, the group conducted
its affairs under the aegis of the MSS.
Al-Usrah was formally
inaugurated on June 12, 1994 at the Mile 1 Central Mosque, Port Harcourt, with about
50 brothers and sisters in attendance.
Since inception, the group meets every Sunday to discuss Islam with a view to improving
members spiritually and to acquire the knowledge to serve Allah as Muslims. Currently,
Al-Usrah has grown in prominence to become the foremost Islamic organisation in
Rivers state, Nigeria.
Mission
Al-Usrah's mission is to strive in the cause of Islam, to seek the pleasure of Allah
and ultimately, to achieve the supreme success of Paradise.
Says Allah (Subhanahu Watahala) " Say: Verily, my prayer, my sacrifice, my living,
and my dying are for Allah, the Lord of mankind, jinn and all that exist."
(Qur'ân Surat Al-An`nam [ch. 6] v. 162)
Vision
Al-Usrah envisions the achievement of Khilafah by the entire Muslim Ummah throughout
the world.
Organisation
The organisational set-up
of Al-Usrah includes an administrative committee and eleven working committees,
whose activities are directed by a central working committee and headed by the Imam.
A schematic of Al-Usrah organisation and the roles of each committee are outlined
